Goal
WinWin is designed to improve quality of life by building a vibrant community of exchanges. It helps small businesses expand their customer base and empowers individuals to achieve personal growth while supporting a circular economy, encourages sustainability, and empowers individuals to realize their potential while fostering meaningful connections and a more resourceful economy.
Research
Before designing the WinWin app, an in-depth research phase was conducted, including competitor analysis, user interviews, and surveys with small business owners. The goal was to understand users' needs and motivations. Insights from this research helped shape a focused, intuitive user experience that connects people and businesses effectively. As part of the research for WinWin, I explored an active Facebook bartering community to better understand users’ real needs and behaviors. By observing conversations and engaging with members, I gained valuable insights into what they look for in a trading platform—such as trust, simplicity, visibility, and fair value exchange—which directly informed the app’s core features and user flow.
The design
The design of WinWin is playful, soft, and inviting, featuring rounded shapes and a clean, friendly interface. The color palette is relatively limited, enhancing focus and contributing to a cohesive, uncluttered aesthetic. This approach creates a light, enjoyable user experience that feels both fresh and approachable.
UI
The visual interface of WinWin is clean, friendly, and playful, using a soft, rounded aesthetic that reflects the app’s warm and inviting tone. A limited color palette enhances clarity and visual harmony, while playful icons and gentle animations add personality and charm. Typography is legible and approachable, supporting a joyful and accessible experience across all screens. The design is supported by rewarding animations and fun copy-writing. The UI is thoughtfully designed to enhance user interactions and communication.
UX
The WinWin app was designed with a user-centered approach, focusing on simplicity, clarity, and ease of navigation for best communication between users. The user flow is intuitive, guiding users step by step through onboarding, listing items, and exploring barter opportunities. Each action feels natural and purposeful and maximizing engagement. Thoughtful micro-interactions and smart matching features ensure a seamless and satisfying experience that encourages continued use.
On boarding
WinWin onboarding process is simple and engaging, guiding new users through a quick setup. It introduces key features, helps personalize preferences, and allows users to list items or services they offer. During the onboarding process, users fill in their information, set preferences, and list items or services they want to offer and receive. This step personalizes their experience, ensuring better trade matches and better interaction within the community from the very beginning.
Home page
On WinWin’s homepage, users see a clean, intuitive interface featuring available barter deals, recommended small businesses, and popular categories. Search and filter options help find relevant trades quickly, while a vibrant community section showcases reviews, successful exchanges, and new opportunities.
Outcome
The WinWin project resulted in a functional concept and design system that demonstrates how a barter-based economy can thrive in a modern digital environment. Through user research and iterative prototyping, I created an intuitive platform where people can easily exchange skills, services, and items without money. The final design showcases a clear user flow, strong visual identity, and scalable components that highlight both community trust and usability. This project not only strengthened my UX/UI design skills but also emphasized my ability to translate social insights into a practical, user-friendly product.
